Henley on Thames 2012, home of the Henely Royal Regatta and Henley festival
History
Henley-on-Thames is listed in the Domesday Book - as Henlei. It probably owes much of its existence to being a convenient crossing point over the river Thames.
Attractions
Henley on Thames sits on the River Thames between Reading and Oxford. Famous for its Regatta each summer, the riverside is very picturesque both sides of the bridge. Walking eastwards there is a childrens' play area and further on a pretty weir. West of the bridge is a riverside walk towards Mapledurham. During the regatta this will be overrun with the hospitality suites.
The main Town Centre has a good variety of shops and restaurants and there is a weekly market.
